Tsunami Awareness

April 1st kicked off Tsunami Awareness Month. April was selected as the month to observe the necessity for tsuanmi awareness because one of Hawaii’s deadliest tsunamis occurred on April 1, 1946. All year ’round, schools across the state are diligent in rehearsing evacuation drills should the unthinkable become reality. The students at Haleiwa Elementary practiced the life-saving measure recently in observance of Tsunami Awareness Month and KITV News was there.
